THE MANUFACTURER CLAIMS THAT BECAUSE IT SEALS OUT MOISTURE, THAT IT HAS RUST INHIBITORS. THIS IS NOT SO. YOUR TANK CAN RUST UNDERNEATH THAT TYPE OF COATING BECAUSE IT ATTRACTS MOISTURE.

IT IS AN EXCELLENT SEALER, BUT NOT RECOMMENDED WHERE FUELS CONTAINING ALCOHOL WILL BE USED, AS ALCOHOL WILL DISSOLVE THIS SEALER. (2) A MOISTURE CURED URETHANE SOLD AS A SEALER BUT WHICH IS NOTHING MORE THAN A LIGHT GRAY OR SILVER PAINT. AS DESCRIBED ABOVE, THIS PRODUCT HAS NO RUST INHIBITORS, WILL NOT ADHERE WELL TO SOME TANK INTERIORS AND IS NOT RE-USABLE.

IS BILL HIRSCH'S GAS TANK SEALER "HAZARDOUS"?

ALL CHEMICAL PRODUCTS ARE HAZARDOUS! ALL SHOULD BE USED WITH EXTREME CAUTION. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A NON-HAZARDOUS SEALER. THE SUPPLIER OF THE LIGHT GRAY OR SILVER PRODUCT ADVERTISES THAT HIS IS A NON FLAMMABLE PRODUCT, YET ON THE LABEL OF HIS CAN, IT STATES THAT THE PRODUCT IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE!!!

WHAT TYPE OF PREPARATION IS NEEDED BEFORE USING BILL HIRSCH'S SEALER?

IF TANK HAS SLUDGE, GUM, OR VARNISH, IT SHOULD FIRST BE CLEANED WITH BILL HIRSCH'S MIRACLE=INDUSTRIAL/MARINE CLEANER & DEGREASER. - USE 1 QUART OF HIRSCH CLEANER TO 1 QUART OF WARM WATER, PUT IN TANK FOR 12-24 HOURS FREQUENTLY AGITATING THE TANK. REPEAT PROCESS UNTIL TANK IS CLEAN. RINSE OUT WITH WARM WATER AND LET DRY THOROUGHLY. YOU MAY NOW INSTALL BILL HIRSCH'S SEALER. HOWEVER, IF TANK APPEARS TO STILL HAVE SOME LIGHT SURFACE RUST, APPLY BILL HIRSCH'S GAS TANK ETCH WHICH WILL NOT ONLY REMOVE THE RUST BUT WILL ETCH THE INSIDE OF THE TANK TO GIVE BETTER ADHESION TO THE SEALER. JUST DRAIN THE ETCH AFTER USE AND LET TANK AIR DRY COMPLETELY BEFORE APPLYING SEALER.. DO NOT FLUSH OUT THE TANK AFTER USING THE ETCH. WHILE BILL HIRSCH'S SEALER WAS DESIGNED TO BE APPLIED RIGHT OVER LIGHT SURFACE RUST, IT IS STILL BETTER TO USE THE ETCH. HOWEVER, TANKS THAT HAVE A HEAVY BUILDUP OF RUST, USUALLY TANKS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN USED FOR YEARS, WHERE CONDENSATION AND WATER HAVE TAKEN THEIR TOLL, SHOULD BE PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED OUT BEFORE APPLYING SEALER. IS IT ALWAYS NECESSARY TO SEAL A TANK AFTER IT HAS BEEN CLEANED?

NO. SEALER SHOULD ONLY BE USED AS A LAST RESORT. TANKS THAT ARE RUST AND GUM FREE THAT HAVE NO PINHOLES OR LEAKS DO NOT NEED SEALER. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT TANKS BE KEPT FULL WITH FUEL AT ALL TIMES, ESPECIALLY DURING STORAGE. THIS PREVENTS CONDENSATION AND FURTHER RUSTING. BUT IF VEHICLES ARE NOT USED FREQUENTLY OR ARE STORED FOR MORE THAN 2-3 MONTHS AT A TIME, THEY SHOULD BE TREATED WITH BILL HIRSCH'S GASOLINE PRESERVATIVE AND STABILIZER. THIS WILL KEEP THE GASOLINE FRESH FOR UP TO THREE YEARS AND WILL ENSURE QUICK TROUBLE FREE STARTING AFTER MONTHS OF NON USE.

CAN BILL HIRSCH'S SEALER BE RE-USED?

YES!! UNLIKE THE POR PRODUCT THAT MUST BE DISCARDED AFTER THE CAN IS OPENED, BILL HIRSCH'S SEALER IS RE-USABLE IF IT IS NOT ALL USED IN ONE APPLICATION. FURTHER IF BILL HIRSCH SEALER THICKENS AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF NON USE, IT CAN BE RE-THINNED WITH METHYL ETHYL KETONE (MEK).

CAN I REMOVE BILL'S HIRSCH' SEALER FROM THE INSIDE OF MY TANK?

YES, WHILE IT IS DIFFICULT, IT CAN BE REMOVED, WHERE OTHER SEALERS CANNOT.

IF ONLY ONE SMALL AREA OF THE TANK IS NOT DRY OR HAS FOREIGN MATTER THAT MAY KEEP THE SEALER FROM ADHERING, THE SEALER WILL NOT STICK TO THOSE AREAS AND COULD COME LOOSE AND FLOAT AROUND IN YOUR TANK AND EVENTUALLY COME THROUGH THE FUEL PICK UP TUBE AND CLOG THE FUEL PUMP AND CARBURETOR. THE SOLVENT FOR THIS SEALER IS METHYL ETHYL KETONE (MEK). BEFORE INTRODUCING ANY ADDITIVES TO FUEL TANK AFTER SEALER HAS BEEN INSTALLED, BE SURE THAT THE PRODUCT YOU INTRODUCE DOES NOT CONTAIN (MEK).
